First set of prospects I met were a woman and her daughter walking on the street. The woman said they were buying in a year, but did not have a time or a place in mind and was not comfortable giving me her contact info. Not a problem, since without a concrete time or location in mind they’re probably only at the infancy stages right now.
When I am door knocking, I am looking for people have to move in the next 12 months and so I will become their agent. Why? When I find these people, and I do, I go to work for them and make them the most informed buyers and sellers on the market. I pull up to date market data based on a particular property they are selling or an area they are interested in buying in on a routine basis and I hand deliver it to there door. I continue to drop off this information until they are ready to move. I want only people who are serious about moving, who are motivated about moving and who are qualified to buy or sell their home. This process is practiced throughout the country and we have a group of real estate agents that are coached by the legendary Bill Nasby and his incredible daughter Erica Nasby. This process of door knocking is bringing us new business on a consistent basis.
The second person I met that stood out in my mind was a man that said: “You are an aggressive agent. You are very good. I can tell. In four years, I will be selling my home on Long Island and I will call you.” Yup, that’s what I’m talking about.

One of the first guys that I met thanked me for coming to his door and told me that I was very sweet and he could hardly wait to refer me business. Then, I door knocked three Chinese people in a row, who spoke almost no English. They knew just enough to say “No English” and when I asked what language do you speak they replied “Chinese” Then I met a woman who spoke Korean and limited English. She informed me that she plans to move next summer was grateful to know that we have Korean speaking agents to help her. We have Korean, Chinese and Japanese speaking agents in our company but very few are out in the field, knocking doors. I could have found another three movers today, but I will never know because I do not speak Chinese. Call me if you speak one of these languages and would like to learn how to door knock.
