The highlight of my morning was watching a class full of toddlers walking in the neighborhood. Each of them was holding their “buddy’s” hand with parents strategically placed for added safety. Their teacher was in the front showing her little learners about the changing leaves. Absolutely adorableThe parents, the teacher and the crossing guard were all very friendly. None of them were moving, but each of them graciously took my business card.
Young families make up a large percentage of real estate clients. Many parents are looking for more space, once their children are more mobile. A newborn does not require a lot of toys, and technically neither to toddlers, but friends and family seem to think otherwise and often time parents move before their kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room double as playrooms. Something else very common amongst younger families is that they have not been educated on the value of owning a home. Often times they think that they cannot afford to own. What many renters find out that for many people their monthly mortgage payments would be less than their monthly rent checks and it is a tax write off. I found a mover this morning; a husband renting with his wife, two children and their grandma. They want more space, privacy and are tired are paying rent. I’m looking forward to welcoming them to the “homeowners club” and educating them about all of it’s benefits.
I then was informed of some very sad and surprising news. The real estate company that rented me my very first apartment out of college went out of business.
