Adventures in Door Knocking - Chapter 11
“He asked me if he could please have a card because when he is ready to move, he wants MY SIGN outside his house…”
Adventures in Door Knocking
80 doors knocked 15 people qualified 12 business cards handed out
1 hour 30 minutes
Did you notice how many doors I knocked? I am surprised my knuckles are not bloody or at least have blisters?! A lot of people were not home this morning, which meant slightly more exercise for me as I walked a few more blocks. No worries! I got 26.2 miles to run in November 2012 when I do the NYC Marathon.
I had two very different opinions today about what I am doing. I am confident that one opinion will be sure to change. It is just a matter of time.
One of the first people I met, lectured me and said, I should find a different real estate company since he used to work with another brand, (which I will not name here) and he never had to knock doors to get clients. When I asked what he was doing now, he confidently let me know that he got out the industry, as there is no money in real estate and started his own business. When I asked how his business was doing, he responded that it has been better, things are a bit tough right now. I wish him good luck and smiled as I walked away. I know the truth, people are moving, and I don’t have to knock doors, I do so because I want to, and knocking doors brings me new business.
One of the last people I met let me know that he plans to move in 10-15 years. He asked me if he could please have a card because when he is ready to move, he wants my sign outside his house. Now that’s what I am talking about! I am sure once his neighbor, the former agent, sees that sign and all the other signs that pop up in the neighborhood with my face, his opinion of Real Estate and our company will change slightly, don’t you think?

I went at night again. I met my contacts pretty quickly and I had some very nice responses which included:
“Wow! You are out here so late? You are a hard worker! I like that!”
“You have people that speak Chinese, too? That is great!”
“Can I have your card? My neighbor might be looking for another tenant or may even consider selling. I will tell him to call you.
I love it when people recognize how hard we work! I see three referrals in my future!
